STREET KNOWLEDGE

EAST

Street Knowledge is a set of four photo-video journeys that cover over 40 miles of London’s diverse neighbourhoods and landmarks. Through a vivid combination of photographs, video footage, voice-overs and ambient sound, Street Knowledge reveals the contrasting tempos and moods of Londoners. Travelling from North, South, East and West to the British Library. The story-line for each journey, portrayed through cabbies’ voice-overs, is based on the idea of ‘appearances’. Appearances are the occasions when trainee taxi-drivers are tested by an examiner.

SOUTH

Street Knowledge was made in partnership with WIZANN Knowledge School, a taxi-drivers’ training centre based in Bow, east London.

The films were commissioned by the British Library. Each starts at a well-known landmark and finishes at the British Library in Euston Road, London NW1.
